Fuel cell trucks in Tokyo

Seven-Eleven Japan and Toyota have this week announced details about a joint project to reduce reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The retailer and car marker entered into a basic agreement to work on initiatives to cut (CO2) store distribution and operation last year.
The companies have announced that they have been installing stationary fuel cell generators and rechargeable batteries at Seven-Eleven stores.
On December 7, 2017, Seven-Eleven opened the environmentally, user friendly Seven-Eleven Chiyoda Nibancho Store as a flagship of these initiatives. The second such store, the Seven-Eleven Sagamihara Hashimotodai Itchome Store, opened on May 22, 2018, with renewable energy accounting for 46 percent of the store's electric power usage.

The companies will also be introducing a newly developed small fuel cell truck to Seven-Eleven's distribution system. Two small fuel cell trucks will be introduced in the Tokyo metropolitan region in spring 2019, and operations will extend to more stores in the autumn.
